**Explanation of Factors of Safety for Man Riding Rescue Tender Slings
Work is completed in accordance with the Lifting Operations & Lifting Equipment Regulations (LOLER) - Regulation 5 which states:
Equipment used for the lifting of people should have a safety coefficient relating to its strength of at least twice that required for general lifting operations. This is the arithmetic ratio between the highest load guarantee by the manufacturer that the lifting equipment of accessory is able to life and the maximum working load marked on the equipment.
By using the same principles of doubling the FoS for man riding applications, we usually work on a 14:1 factor of safety for webbing or rope and at least 8:1 for components.
